Comcast Launches Lift Zone at Westhampton Woods Senior Housing, Empowering Seniors with Connectivity, Cybersecurity Education and New Laptops
Comcast, in partnership with the Town of Westhampton and the Westhampton Council on Aging, is bringing high-speed connectivity, digital literacy and laptop computers to local seniors at Westhampton Woods Senior Housing through a new Lift Zone initiative. At the Lift Zone unveiling today, company, town and council officials were joined by Massachusetts State Representative Lindsay Sabadosa to launch the program.
Comcast Lift Zones provide free, high-capacity WiFi in trusted community spaces across the country, helping individuals access online resources, participate in virtual learning, and strengthen their computer skills. The new Lift Zone at Westhampton Woods Senior Housing is the 77th Lift Zone location in Massachusetts.

“Many seniors face barriers to digital adoption, from lack of training to the inability to get a new device, and this Lift Zone is a powerful example of how Comcast is helping ensure no one is left behind,” said Rep. Sabadosa. “By providing high-speed connectivity and a place for support, seniors in Westhampton can continue to connect to their loved ones, telehealth appointments and enriching virtual experiences.”

To celebrate the launch, Comcast hosted a cybersecurity training session for local seniors. Participants refreshed their digital literacy skills, learned how to stay safe online and received practical tips for avoiding phishing and other online scams. As part of the event, Comcast also provided new laptops to attending seniors.
“This Lift Zone is a game-changer for our seniors, especially when paired with a hands-on cybersecurity session, which helped participants better understand how to navigate the Internet, as well as recognize and avoid scams,” said Christine Blakesley, Coordinator of the Westhampton Council on Aging. “In addition, the Lift Zone gives the Council on Aging a consistent space to offer technical support to seniors and help them connect to family, essential services and the broader community.”
The community room at Westhampton Woods Senior Housing, already a hub for senior programs, will now double as a digital learning center for local seniors, offering reliable Internet access and ongoing computer training opportunities.
“We are proud to partner with the Town of Westhampton and the Council on Aging to bring this Lift Zone to life,” said Carolyne Hannan, Senior Vice President for Comcast’s New England Region. “This new location at Westhampton Woods Senior Housing will empower more residents to harness the power of broadband – connecting them to loved ones, essential services and new opportunities.”
Comcast’s recent efforts in Westhampton are part of Project UP, the company’s comprehensive $1 billion initiative to connect people to the Internet, provide digital opportunity and build a future of unlimited possibilities. In addition to Lift Zones, the initiative includes programs such as Internet Essentials, and Digital Navigators. Since its inception in 2011, Comcast’s Internet Essentials has connected more than 801,000 low-income Massachusetts residents to broadband service at home. Additionally, Comcast has 12 Digital Navigator programs throughout the state.
